ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Joseph Russell and I am proud to announce that I am running for Kaufman County Court at Law Judge for the 2024-2028 term. I am the conservative candidate with Christian values that refuses to legislate from the bench and will ensure public safety while maintaining law and order within Kaufman County.  I am strong on law and order and believe my values align with the good people of Kaufman County. I hold a conservative judicial philosophy and interpret the law as written.

A THRIVING CAREER

I am the only candidate demonstrating readiness and suitability to seamlessly take on the full scope of this court’s responsibilities from day one. I bring 23 years of dedicated experience practicing law in Kaufman County, proving a deep understanding of this community’s needs. I am proud to have extensive experience in child protective services, criminal, family, and juvenile law. I am committed to serving this community fairly and justly, while offering new and innovative ideas. I also have an excellent working relationship with all courts and staff including the District Attorney’s office, Detectives, the District and County Clerks offices and the Adult and Juvenile Probation departments.

WHERE I COME FROM

I am grateful for my upbringing in Stephenville, Texas where I gained traditional family values that now have aligned with my approach to justice and decision-making. I met my soulmate while attending Tarleton State University and married in 1993. I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in political science and began Texas Tech Law school in 1995. By the time I graduated, we had two lovely children. We moved to Kaufman County in 2000 and eventually opened my own practice in 2003 where I have been serving this community 20 years since. We are so proud and pleased to have raised our children in this county, we believe it was integral in their upbringing. My wife has been employed as a teacher, school counselor, and assistant principal at several of the school districts in this county including Terrell, Kaufman, and Mabank school districts. She is currently a Licensed Professional Counselor and also works alongside Kaufman County as a Mental Health Coordinator to provide mental health services and resources for those in need.

MISSION STATEMENT

Community Safety & Youth Rehabilitation

As I embark on this responsibility, my mission is to diligently address pressing concerns within our jurisdiction. I am deeply troubled by the alarming surge in violent juvenile crime across our county. My commitment is unwavering—I will exhaustively pursue every viable solution to curb this epidemic, prioritizing the safeguarding of our community while fostering the rehabilitation of our youth.

I pledge an unyielding approach toward cases involving violent juveniles, recognizing the gravity of these matters and their impact on our community's safety. Additionally, as a judge, I eagerly anticipate championing the protection of children's physical and emotional well-being, particularly in cases brought before us by Child Protective Services. These causes resonate deeply with me because I firmly believe that our youth represent the cornerstone of our community's future.

With dedication and empathy, I aim to contribute to a safer environment while steering troubled youth toward a path of restoration. Together, let us safeguard our community and nurture a brighter future for our children.
